In Memory

Julia Akin (Boehm)

Julia Akin (Boehm)

The Class of 1961 is saddened to learn about and share news of the death of Julie on June 13, 2019.  In the 1990's Julie and husband, Mike, lived and farmed near Otoe, NE.  Julia and Mike then moved closer to home, bought an acreage near Walton, NE, where they built their home on their property.  Julie "took to" their country life.  They had horses on their acreage and Julie shared that interest with Mike, becoming especially fond of favorite horse, Stormy.  She embraced Mike's participation in national rodeo competition.  Julie was Mike's greatest fan as he participated in rodeo competition, then later, together they traveled the country judging rodeo competitions.  Their horse, Stormy, died a few years ago and his ashes were spread on Julie and Mike's acreage.  About a year ago, Julie contracted aggressive and incurable breast cancer.  Julie's wishes were that her body be cremated and her ashes were to be spread on their acreage near their beloved Stormy.  On Saturday, June 22, 2019, these wishes were fulfilled.  Many friends and family attended and the gathering became a celebration of Julie's life.  Julie is survived by her husband, Mike, three sons: Mike, Andy and Todd, and one step-son, Ben, and several grandchildren.  The Class of '61 is grateful to Mike for sharing with us these special memories.  R. I. P., Julie.

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Julie.  Julie, Marlene Rowe and I were best friends in high school, and I remember sleep-overs and dancing in my kitchen to the latest music.  Julie was very sweet and really fun to be around.   In our later years Julie and I  reconnected and shared Christmas cards for many years.  Sincere condolences to Julie's family and friends.  R.I.P.

I too was saddened by Julie"s passing.  I will always remember our fun times in school like it was yesterday.  We hung out at each others home as if it were our own.  She was such a gentle person as I am sure her family knew, about her.  Sadly we  did not keep up thru the years.
