Ronald G. Chambers

Ronald G. Chambers

Ronand G. Chambers was born on January 1, 1943 and died on July 7, 2022 in Escondido, CA where he and wife Sue (White, LHS Class of '62)  have lived for 49 years.  Ron died at home with his wife and son, Jeff, nearby.  Ron had been on hospice for 8 months suffering from COPD and related complications.  Their son, Jeff,  has been living with his parents to provide care and support.

Ron was born in York, NE, at his parents' home during a wicked blizzard making a trip to the hospital impossible.  Ron lived much of his younger life in and near the Sandhills in Broken Bow and Thedford where he still has family.  After Ron and Sue married they lived in Lincoln and Ron worked as a Union Carpenter until he suffered a back injury.  This was in 1973 and Sue's parents were retiring to Escondido, CA.  Since Ron needed a career change he and Sue decided to join Sue's parents and move to CA.  Ron worked as a Land Surveyor in Escandido until his retirement in 2008.  All of their three children were born in Escandido and still reside there.  As per Ron's request his ashes are scattered over the Sandhills in western Nebraska.  The whole family traveled back to Nebraska to fulfill this request.  There has been no formal obituary yet written but that may become available in the future.

Ron always wanted to move back to Nebraska after he retired.  He remained a loyal Husker fan and never missed watching the Huskers on TV.  Ron and Sue were/are Husker Red, through and through.

The Class of '61 sends deep condolences to Sue and family.  Ron was a respected and respectful classmate.

I wish I had know about Ron's Broken Bow connection. That is the town my mother was from.
