Word has just been received that Les died on the afternoon of Monday, September 5, 2022.  Les was being attended to by Bryan Hospital hospice.  His death comes after a prolonged illness including Covid and pneumonia.  Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is responsible for making final arrangements.   Our LHS Class of '61 sends condolences to Les's family and to his special friend, Toni Churchill, who has provided this informaiton.

We who live in Lincoln and have attended our Class of '61 monthly dinners for many, many years are very close to and fond of  Les's significant other, Toni, and she has been "adopted" by the LHS Class of '61.  Our care and deep concern are with Toni and our special love and support go to her.  You may send condolences directly to:

Leslie "Les" Edward McGerr, February 5, 1943 – September 5, 2022

Les was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on February 5, 1943, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 5, 2022 at the age of 79. Les lived his entire life in Lincoln graduating from Lincoln High School and being a businessman extraordinaire all his life.

Les’ first love was the Lord Jesus Christ, whom you would have heard about if you had at least a brief conversation with him. He cared about those around him and so he was passionate, fearless, and diligent that all heard the gospel message of salvation from sin through the Lord. 

Les was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary and his siblings Edward, Vivian, Ellen and Jo Anne.

Les leaves behind his children Randy, Wendy, and Kelly as well as his brother Dan and sister Marylu.

A memorial service will be held at Indian Hills Community Church on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 2:00 PM with a time to meet with the family to follow. If you are unable to attend please join the service virtually by using the link provided. facebook.com/indianhillscommunitychurch

Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park with a graveside service preceding the memorial service.

To Toni and Les's family-I am so sorry to hear of his passing, He was a gentleman, friend and classmate. He will  be missed by all. Toni-you were a rock for Les for many years. Thank you for your gentle care.  Gidge
