DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE:
·A date for our 50th Reunion has been set!October 14-16, 2011
·All available technology will be utilized to notify classmates:
oThe LHS Class of 1961 website
oEmails
oPostcards mailed to those who are not online.
·Notification of the reunion date will be short, to the point:
oSave the Date
oJoin the website, save costs on postage.
·Notification will be sent to all classmates within 10 days.
·Registration for the 50th Reunion will be set up on the website as an option to all classmates.
·Registration may be completed through email OR on the Class of ’61 website OR forms may be downloaded by classmates from the website and registrations on “paper” can be sent via US mail OR forms can be sent US mail to classmates who receive and respond only through US Mail. Goal is to provide every opportunity to respond.
·Registration can be paid for online (PayPal) or sent in by check.
·Committee will meet on the 4th Mondays from now on.
EVENTS COMMITTEE – This committee met in February and gave this information. The LHS/SE football game is Friday, October 14, 2011, Seacrest Field, 4:30 PM. Information, regarding costs/availability/size of several locations forthe events, is being collected. Planned events will be Friday night, Saturday afternoon tours, Saturday night, Sunday brunch. Lots of help needed here!
ENTERTAINMENT & DECORATING – Themes for the weekend are: Friday night – Homecoming, Saturday night –Joy Night, Sunday Brunch – “until we meet again/memories” tune from the 60’s (to be determined). Decorating ideas are being sought. Gloria Kowrack Baker needs volunteers to help implement these ideas. Talent for Saturday night Joy Night encouraged! So let her know. Collaboration has begun among Donna Peterson Waller, Frank Richardson, and the Girl’s Octet.
ADDRESSES & YEARBOOK – Unofficially there are 20 Lost Links and 64 deceased classmates. Address searches and verifications are ongoing. Helping to search for “Lost Links” was offered at the meeting. Two printer companies have been contacted and layout possibilities for the printed yearbook were presented. Help will be needed to type and “cut and paste” from emails and the website and paper response sheets.
COMMUNICATIONS – Notification letters continue to be sent/resent as corrected addresses are found. Reply sheets received are forwarded to the Events Committee and Address Committee. Harold Monismith volunteered to locate LHS teachers and coaches who were on the LHS staff 1958-61.
WEBSITE – There are 101 registered classmates on the website as of 3/1/10. There are approximately 60 more classmates who have email addresses that are not on the website. Donna Filbert Ewoldt reported there is continuous feedback via the website, supporting the efforts of the committee with positive encouraging messages. Pages most often visited are 1) Classmate Profiles & Home Page, 2)50th Reunion Details and 3) In Memory.
TREASURER – Mary Gilbert Jorgensen reported that donations by check are $930, via PayPal $220, total $1150. Expenses to date are $1058. There is a balance of $2294. The November mailing to all classmates cost approximately $700. A budget will be developed when more decisions regarding sites/specific events are determined.
People volunteered to participate and more are needed!
Karen Heckman Stork's committee is already busy investigating venues for events. She will welcome more volunteers.
Cathy Stump Rauch continues to locate and update addresses. Lists of people whose addresses are not up-to-date can been found on "Missing Classmates". It is updated regularly. Already, classmates have provided information that has been enormously helpful.
Mary Gilbert Jorgensen reports the treasury has approximately $1700. Generous donations have already been received. Indicates there is a lot of ehthusiasm for a great 50th Reunion. Donations have been received in the form of checks and also through PayPal (appears on the Home Page).
Gloria Kowrack Baker and Donna Filbert Ewoldt are soliciting ideas for entertainment and decorating themes. Let them hear from you.
Barb Singer Smith will continue to resend the mid November 2009 mailing to those who have not yet been reached. That mailing can also be found on this site.A letter was sent to all classmates the second week of November. CLICK HERE FOR DOCUMENT.
