The Class of 1961 expresses deep sympathy to Gary's family.  In the spring of 2022 it was learned Gary was sufferning from Parkinson's disease and was living at Tabitha Journey House.  A career as a Lincoln Fire Fighter, Gary made great contributions to our community.  A life well lived.

Gary Dee Butcher, 79, of Lincoln. passed away January 20, 2023. He was born April 15, 1943 to Robert and Phyllis (Young) Butcher. He was employed by the Lincoln Fire Department for 34 years before retiring in 1999.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Colleen; sons, Gary Jr (Tracey) of Shawnee, KS, Tim of Lincoln; daughters Deb (Ric) Compton of Stevensville, MI, Tammy (Brian) Hayes of Lincoln; grandchildren Gary III, Robert, Elizabeth, and Greta Butcher of Shawnee, KS, Mercedes and Tristan Butcher, Jared Hayes, Ty (Sierra) Hayes of Lincoln, Noah Compton of Stevensville, MI, Aaron Hayes of Portland, OR, and Kyra Hayes of Kansas City, MO; great-grandson Hudson Hayes of Lincoln; brother Robert 'Butch' Butcher Jr of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
