Randy and I met at the ping pong tables at LHS. We soon discovered we had several mutual interests, like cars, guns, and girls, to mention a few. He invited me over to his house to see his motorcycle, a 1947 Jawa. We spent most of the afternoon pushing it up and down the alley behind his house, trying to get the thing to start. Finally, we changed the ignition timing and it started right off. We used to go shooting by the bridge by Niehoff's auto parts. (try to find that now!) He took a guy who was essentially a hermit and brought me out into the world.

After graduation Randy went to NU and I joined the Marine Corps. After four years, I went to NU and he went into the Army. Four years later I graduated from NU, Randy came home from the Army, and we joined up again.

Through the years, I would look him up whenever I was in Lincoln and he would look me up when he came to his condo in Florida.

I visited Randy and Carolyn after the 55th reunion, and he was in good spirits. Nothing seemed to keep him down. I was surprised and deeply saddend when my brother called with the news of his passing. He was my best friend, and I will miss him more than I can say. Rest in peace, my friend.

I always considered Randy a friend of mine. I lived at 37th and a street for many years and would stop in and say hi to Randy occasionally. I remember one day in particular where my daughter was driving her classic Pontiac Catalina 333rd and A Street intersection and a woman ran a red light and T-boned my daughter and Randy came running to her rescue and stayed with her until they took her to the hospital. I asked about him at the 55th reunion as I knew he had been in the hospital and possibly not in good health. I know his friend Joyce and his wife and all of his family are saddened by his passing. He was one of the good guys. RIP friend.

So sorry to hear of Randy's passing. The good news is he is no longer suffering and is at rest with many of our other classmates. What a reunion in the sky that could be. He was a busy guy, shop at 33rd and A then moved to 33rd and B. He was always a friendly and happy man. So long to one of our good Links.
