Clifford S. Bates of San Jose, CA went to be with the Lord January 3, 2019 after years of illness.  He was born on January 16, 1944 in Lincoln and Cliff died in the VA hospital in Palo Alto.  He is survived by wife Grace Bates; children Greg Bates, Anita Bates, and Jennifer Beaver (Jason); step children Roger Ross (Karen) and Jona Rasmussen (Torben).
A celebration of life was held on February 9, 2019 at 10am at Venture Christian Church, Los Gatos. In lieu of flowers, its suggested donations be made to Samaritan's Purse: Operation Heal Our Patriots: 013960, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607, or at samaritanspurse.org.
