Joan was my very best friend in high school. I lived near 27th & South St. and she lived around 35th & F and we'd meet at Smith's drive-thru Dairy at 33rd & A streets. We'd always talk the help into selling us cigarettes and then we'd go to Antelope Park to smoke, near the LHS bridge. One of the best memories I have is when she liked a mutual friend of ours, Robert Andrews, and he lived at 32nd at Chataququa. Welllllllllllllllllllll, we got the brilliant idea to hot wire Robert's old scooter (a green one with the metal skirt around it), that he was so very proud of. Joan drove it and I rode on the back. We were going over to see our friend Brenda Stork and coming down a hill somewhere around Plymouth street she froze on the gas and not the brake and we jumped the curb and ended up wrapped around a big tree. I remember the owner of the house came running out from the side yard and was worried about what we had done to her tree! No regard for our life or limbs ..... just that stupid tree. We were in trouble, but Robert, being the nice guy he was, forgave us (her)! I remember going to Joan's house and dancing to the music on the radio til we couldn't dance any more. I wish I could remember the name of our favorite song................I wish I could have her back, just to tell her how much I love her and miss her. Judy Cline Glathar
