Ronald Kurtzer

The Classs of '61 is grateful that Ron attended our 50th class reunion where many were able to share memories and learn about Ron's life and career.  We send condolences to Ron's family.  This information appeared in the Lincoln paper honoring Ron's life.

Ronald Leroy Kurtzer, 71, of Lincoln, passed away June 14, 2014 at his home. Born April 10, 1943 in Lincoln, Neb., to Leroy and Elsie (Drevo) Kurtzer. Graduated from Lincoln High School 1961. Worked for Tastee Inn while in high school and in 1964 began his career at the Univ. of Nebraska Lincoln, from 1964 to 1969 as an Audio Visual Specialist and from 1969 to 1993 he was an Audio Video Media Specialist. He also did slide processing for Max Miller in the evenings. Ron traveled all over the world doing his love of photography. He also coordinated many canoe trips down the Dismal River, Niobrara River, Rio Grande River and many others with his friends. Ron was an active member of the Sierra Club and the Orchid Club.

Survived by brothers, Gary and wife Betty, and Greg and wife Shelley, all of Lincoln; sister, Deb Manchester and husband Landis, Las Vegas, Nev.; nephew, Kent Kurtzer and Betsy Kurtzer, Lincoln; three nieces, Anne Duchek and husband Matt, Lincoln, Kelly Dawson and husband Jeremy, Omaha, and Chelsea Manchester, Las Vegas; great nephew, Joshua Dawson; great niece, Alexis Dawson; uncles, Harold Kurtzer, Lincoln, and Wilber Scott, Cedar Rapids, Neb.; numerous cousins and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents.
