Our late classmate, Cindy Bruce Cease, reached Willene's brother, Paul, after Willene died.  Cindy related to us how grateful she felt for her conversation with Paul.  Willene's daughter, Roslen Ross of Lincoln, has been in touch with ‘61 classmates and has expressed her appreciation to our class for acknowledging her mother.  The Letcher family has made outstanding contributions to the African American community in Lincoln and an award is given in their honor at the annual NAACP Banquet.

Willene was a medical clerk at UNL Health Center and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.  She is survived by one daughter, three sons, one sister and one brother, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Willene died May 1, 2003.
