Prairie Rose and I sat next to each other in Miss Buell's geometry class during our sophomore year.  She was really a geometry "brainiac", and I remember thinking (hoping?) that sitting next to her was somehow making me smarter!  And I loved her name - Prairie Rose - so beautiful!

Fast forward to the 1970s.  We moved to the Quad Cities which is located on the Iowa-Illinois border right on the Mississippi River and right on I-80.  Over the years, I've made hundreds of trips back to Nebraska to visit family and friends.  Right at Exit 46, close to Walnut, Iowa, there is a big sign directing the driver to Prairie Rose State Park!  Over the years, as I passed that sign, I would always think of Prairie Rose and wonder what she was up to (and wonder if she knew there was a Iowa state park named after her!)

I was so sorry to hear about her early passing.  Gone too soon.  R.I.P.
