David E. Burk

David E. Burk died on March 17, 2022.  David's sister, Carole Burk Hampsh (LHS Class of '60), has informed us of David's passing which followed a long illness.  He was living in Las Vegas, NV.  

After high school graduation David attended LIFE Bible College and Azusa Pacific College.  He was a seminary graduate and pastor.  He also had a law inforcement career as deputy sherriff in Tucson, AZ, LAPD Officer, missionary in Mexico, Indian Gaming Chief Internal Auditor, served on the Natiional Indian Gaming Commission, was a Federal Investigator and Director of Training, National Indian Gaming Commission.  Dave officially retired December of 2010.  David is survived by his wife, Graciela and four children, Brent, Kent, Mark and Michelle.  Condolences to David's family from the Class of '61.

So sorry to hear of Dave Burk's passing. I got to know him from Boy's Octet and choir. Also seeing him and his wife at recent  LHS reunions.

I have many fond memories from our LHS days and send condolences to his Family

David was a good friend over the years... I'm so sad to hear of his passing. We kept in touch throughout the years via mail and emails ... he will always be fondly remembered as a great and sensitive guy!

I am so sorry to read about David's passing. I remember a time when Dave and I made a quick weekend trip to Oklahoma. I think we were 16 at the time. He did all of the driving and, I might add, VERY fast. As I recall, we made the trip to visit a family that was formerly a part of his father's ministry. A strongly religious family!!! This experience left an important impression on me which was that there are many good people in this world who are willing to help or, just to stop by to say "hello!". I am certain that the tradition continued for him even in law enforcement. A PUBLIC SERVANT first and forever. Thank you Dave.
